Having grown up in west Denver, I developed a love of outdoor activities and everything Colorado has to offer. I enjoy skiing, cycling, hiking and, most importantly, spending time outdoors with my family. I feel my local background has helped me connect with my patients because I appreciate the opportunities living in Colorado and the Rocky Mountains offers. Several of my family members worked in medicine and thus I was influenced at a young age to medicine and helping others. I received my EMT certificate and was a member of the Winter Park Junior Ski Patrol.
Following my formal medical training I volunteered as a medic with Ride the Rockies bicycle ride and as a medic for the Pro Cycling Challenge. I enjoy the seasonal activities Colorado offers and thus understand my patients’ frustrations when they can’t hike, bike, or walk the dog. I very much enjoy working with my patients to get them back outside and living their best life!
I attended Wheat Ridge High School where I was actively involved both in and out of the classroom. I attended college at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Graduate school at Columbia University in New York and the University of Colorado. Following graduate school, I attended medical school at the University of Colorado. I then completed my neurosurgical training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE which is a comprehensive training program specializing in both brain and spine surgery. After completing my residency in Omaha, I was able to achieve my goal of living and raising my family in Colorado. In 2009, my wife, three children and I moved back to Denver. We have embraced the Colorado quality of life and enjoy all this state has to offer.
I began my neurosurgery practice at St Anthony’s Hospital/InterMountain Neurosurgery in Lakewood, CO where I treated both spine and brain patients at a level I trauma center. In 2017, I joined CarePoint Neurosurgery. During my tenure I continued caring for my patients with best-in-class spine and brain care. I added cervical and lumbar arthroplasty (artificial disc replacement) to my armamentarium of treatment options for my patients. In 2023 I was fortunate to join Panorama Orthopedics & Spine as the only neurosurgically trained spine specialist. Panorama Orthopedics & Spine offers best in class, comprehensive orthopedic and spine care throughout metro Denver and mountain communities.
My expertise is in the treatment of spine disorders of the neck and back. These disorders range from spinal stenosis, disk degeneration, disc herniation, spinal instability and arthritis. Additionally, I am keenly interested in my patients’ outcomes and actively participate in collecting data on their functional recovery after treatment. Patient reported outcomes and value-based care is becoming the norm regarding best-in-class care. I feel I owe it to my patients and future patients to make sure they get Back to Their Best Lives!
